The Malay and Islamic World Museum is located in Bastion House building, which was built in 1910 by the British rubber company Dunlop. They used the building until 1986. The upstairs exhibition rooms held information about the spread of Islam in this region of the world, important and historical Muslim figures, displays of important Islamic buildings, artifacts, traditional dress and other moderately interesting things to see relating to the Islamic world. There were some pieces that seemed out of place, like antique irons from the Czech Republic. If you want to learn about the first representatives of Islamic world, how it was spread and its characteristics this museum is the right place. Melaka is a history city that talks through its buildings, churches, museums and monuments about every history period. This old building that is well maintained and well structured is one of the best to start the Malaccan exploration.
