The guesthouse is a family run business that has strong retro design with cosy space suitable for couples and family. It is conveniently placed in the central part of Melaka City near the banks of Melaka River. Many of the popular attractions are located nearby including Jonker Street, A’Famosa, shopping complexes and dining spots. There are eight guest rooms with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Complimentary Wi-Fi connectivity is provided within the premises. The balcony gives a panoramic night view of the city. A lounge area in the downstairs also gives an overview of the river. It is a value for money living spot.
The entrance to the Wayfarer Guesthouse is semi covered with greenery. The door way is old styled with a parted 4 way timber door. A typical Chinese chandelier is hung that emits pale yellow light.
The doorway leading to the lobby is a compact zone. You get a mix of the past and the present with the decoration consisting of modern and old school furniture and painting. Moving in to the center lobby, you’ll see a huge business plague and the area resembles the shop house setting in the old days.
Standard Suite, the smallest of all the 8 rooms is spacious compare to rooms of other guesthouses in the area. The room is simply furnished and compatible with the hotel standard. Heated water and air condition is accommodated with a soft cozy bed.

Note: Room #8 is for owner’s own stay.
The sitting area is well furnished with different types of seating arrangements. A common television is placed for the guests as the rooms have no television access. The area also has an antique gramophone at the foreground and a wooden recliner swing which is very well polished and comfortable with side pillows.
The courtyard looks like a simple home garden with different types of potted plants. The walls are simple and not so decorated.
Balconies are available for the Author and Artist Suite at the second and third level. It is equipped with chairs for viewing pleasure. The balconies have small plant pots and climbers that give it a garden feel. The balconies have wood flooring and an old fashioned door and fence.
If you are not staying in the room with riverview balcony, you can always go to the backyard at the ground level, grab a seat and immerse in the historic city’s night sky of the streaming Melaka River and have a spectacular view of the opposite shops and St. Francis Xavier Church. You’ll also see boat cruising the river a few times in an hour so just wave and say hi to the passengers.

I am sorry the rooms for 2 adults and 2 kids has already been taken up.
The parking space is limited outside the guest house but there is a big parking area that is within 50m walk.

Great! We’ll be staying from the 10th till the 12th. The reservation is for 2 persons. A riverside room would be preferable if possible.
I double checked the room vacancy and found out that 10 Aug is fully booked. There are still rooms available on 11 and 12 Aug. So sorry about that.
You may want to check out RC Hotel that comes with riverview balcony too. Alternatively, River Song Residence (right next to Wayfarer Guesthouse) is a cheaper but less comfortable option and without riverview balcony.
