Summary:
4.3
RC hotel (a.k.a. River Cruise Hotel) is located along Malacca River and takes about 10 minutes walk to reach from the shopping district of Jonker Street. The boutique blend hotel consists of luxurious rooms that provide comfortable staying options. 24 hours active front desk service is available to the guests along with extensive room service. You can also find a rooftop terrace, bar lounge and two restaurants here.
Since RC Hotel is located within the heritage area, there are a lot of attractions and activities that you can explore just a stone’s throw away.
The 4-storey outlook of RC Hotel clearly indicates that the hotel authority is very serious about its outward appearance. Bearing a quite majestic appearance, the exterior is reminiscent to the roof-scaped structures of the British colonial style. The outer walls of the hotel are coated with Plaster of Paris to prevent damage from rain and excess heat of the sun.
RC Hotel is located within the heritage area and about 10-min walk from Stadhuys/Red Square so you can easily find the hotel when you reach Melaka City.
Most guests arrive at the hotel by car. There are sufficient shared parking space but it is usually hard to get an empty space especially during the weekends. Not to worry. Free valet parking is provided so you can park your car in front of the hotel and let the staff take care of it.
In case of heavy traffic in town or if you want to experience something differently, you can prearrange with the hotel to park the car in a fully secured jetty of Taman Rempah and reach the hotel by boats.
On arriving at the reception lobby and while waiting for check-in, you’ll experience the hospitality of the staff when being served with a glass of refreshing ice lemon grass.
The elegant front lobby is brightly lit up with cozy lighting. The center lobby during day time, on the other hand utilizes natural lighting from the side door.
The floor of the hotel lobby is quite polished without presence of dirt. It is cleaned on a daily basis.
There are a total of 31 spacious and luxurious rooms with roughly the same design.
The interior decorations of the hotel rooms are marked with art deco styles which emphasize on the fusion of tradition with modernization. Foreigners visiting the hotel often prefer to book the Executive Suite rooms with river view balcony. There is no better way to appreciate Melaka River so closely here.
The rooms are spacious. Even after placing a writing desk and a super king-sized bed, there is still plenty of space to walk around.
Do not think that the Standard Room is lower in grade. Apart from having no balcony, this type of rooms (picture as above) have the same amenities as all other rooms.
All rooms are equipped with complimentary WiFi with fast connection, a coffee maker, LCD television, hair dryer, and full range of bathroom facilities.
Visitors arriving with their 2 children always seek to book the Family Deluxe Room which provides bunk bed. This is a room of high demand but too bad, they only have one of this type.
The Mercado rooftop lounge of the hotel provides excellent sunset view of Melaka River. It also contains a restaurant known as Mercado Mediterranean which offers a variety of tasty and delicious food items with perfect combination of wines and spirits. The place is also perfect to hold private function of up to 100 pax as well as for sharing memorable moments with the loved ones.
Catering for private functions do inquire from the hotel reception.
As the tallest building within Unesco Heritage Site, you can take a breathtaking view of Melaka River and other heritage buildings at close range.
You’ll find a dining area towards the end of the lobby. It is recommended to have your meal at the courtyard where the romantic ambience can definitely entice your appetite.
Scrambled egg white served with side salad, grilled tomato, choice of cereal, fresh fruits, yoghurt, a basket of bread and a cup of coffee is what you should get for a great start of the day. Highly recommended for 2!
The food presentation is of high standard but the taste is moderate and there is certainly rooms for improvement in this area.
After a long day in Melaka City, unwind yourself at the bar lounge deck with a sip of wine is the perfect way to end your day!
