St. Francis Xavier is an important historical missionary figure who spent much of his live spreading the gospel and tending to the pour in South Asia, South-East Asia and Japan. He made several stops in Melaka during the period of the Portuguese rule and was buried here for a time, at what was called St. Paul church on top of St. Paul church at that time. It’s great to listen to the sermon in four languages, Malayan, English, Tamil, and Chinese. The songs are also sung in those languages. This is a multinational church. The important thing you need to know about this church is to pay attention to the altar. There is mural of St. Francis Xavier on it. This place is steeped in history and well worth the visit and walk around the vicinity. Take a tour guide though they know so much and can tell you all the stories and details on the history.
